Ysgol Maesydderwen attended the Powys Schools Athletics Championships on Thursday 21st May. Pupils from Years 7-9 competed in track and field events against all schools in Powys.
Ysgol Maesydderwen had pupils competing in the following events
100 metre, 200 metres, 800 metres, 1500 metres, 4x100 relay, discuss, javelin, shot put, long and high jump.
The stand out performances for Ysgol Maesydderwen came from Bikia Mbiba and Katie Jones who both reached there respective finals in the 100 metres for their year groups.
All athletes that took part gave 100% in there events and made the school proud. They came up against some very strong opposition, with some of the athletes in other schools competing for athletic clubs on a regular basis.
