The girls Netball Team at Ysgol Maesydderwen entered a local county tournament against other schools in Powys at Crickhowell High School.
The year 9 team consisting of Hannah Barron, Anya Welsh, Lowri Miles, Emma Redman, Tyler Sherratt, Darcy Lee Evans, Ellie Jenkins, Chloe Slocombe, Charlotte Swindley and Crystyn Dickson performed extremely well against bigger and more experienced schools and teams in the County. With fantastic determination and team work the team produced some wonderful netball skills which consisted of them winning 3 games, losing 3 and drawing one. This allowed them to finish in 3rd place from the 9 school entered. The girls and myself are very happy and proud of their achievements.
The year 7 and 8 team also played extremely well displaying some wonderful netball skills. The team consisting of Ethel Yoro, Olivia Davies, Catrin Davies, Ffion Morgan, Lorelle Bateman, Emily Jones, Holli Jones and Faith Marsh fought well against some great teams, matching their ability levels to produce 2 wins, 5 loses and 1 draw. This landed them at a respectful 8th place from 10 schools. Considering their lack of experience against these schools, what they produced was nothing short of brilliance.
As a school we are proud of those representing us in such a wonderful manner, and as a teacher of PE I am more than proud to have them in my sports teams.
