Congratulations are in order for three students from Ysgol Maesydderwen who worked as a team to win ‘Swansea and District Geographical Association Worldwise Quiz’ for the first time ever in the school’s history. The members of the wining team were Daniel, Leon and Harrison. The quiz was held at Swansea University on Wednesday 27 April.
The quiz consisted of two main rounds; the qualifying round for the final and the final round itself. There were various questions in both rounds some were solving anagrams that were capital cities of the world, OS map questions, the Geography of Wales, landmarks of the UK, mixed bag round and an alphabet round. Some questions were based on the GCSE Geography course and there were some random Geography questions.
Four teams went through to the final including Ysgol Maesydderwen, St. Michael’s School, Olchfa Comprehensive and Ysgol Coedcae. At the end of the final round Maesydderwen won with 35 points, runners up were St. Michael’s with 26 points and Olchfa came third with 25 points.
