Pupils were led past the crime scene and into the Briefing Room to hear the initial details of the crime and the evidence that had been collected.
Investigations into the evidence included analysis of fibres, footprints, stomach contents and blood.
Head of Science, Faye Brodrick, said “The pupils from our primary schools never cease to amaze me! They have handled complex equipment and chemicals in a mature and safe manner whilst enjoying piecing together the evidence to find the killer. These children are a credit to our community and I am excited about the future prospects for continued exam and career success in our area and at Ysgol Maesydderwen.”
Nearly all of the pupils from Ysgol Golwg y Cwm, Ysgol y Cribarth, Ysgol Bro Tawe and Ysgol Gymraeg Dyffryn y Glowyr correctly identified the criminal using their problem solving skills. Many thanks are extended to the staff from each of the schools, the Sixth Form students at Ysgol Maesydderwen, the Science Team & support staff at Ysgol Maesydderwen and, of course, the Year 5 pupils!
Our extensive programme of collaboration with our primary schools continues with closer links across our staff and subject areas, Year 6 visits and a further extension to our TechnoClub computer programming tutorials to name just a few.
