We would like to say 'Well done' and 'Congratulations' to all the pupils who participated in the Powys Athletics event at Brecon yesterday.
We are very proud at the effort they put in and their dedication to perform well, they did the PE department and the school very proud.
We had a variety of successes throughout the day, with Jack Wilcox who achieved a Medal in each of his events. He was awarded Gold in both the Shot Putt and the Discuss in the Year 7 boys category and a Bronze in the Javelin to go along with those.
Jordan Maynard also did well in his throwing event, achieving a Bronze medal in the Shot Putt. He also came 4 th in the 300m.
Tom Swindley also achieved a medal in his Long Jump, where he was awarded the Silver medal.
Matthew Hopton did very well in is Sprinting events and was placed in the finals for both the 10m and the 200m, where he narrowly missed out on a medal achieving 4 th place in the 100m and 6 th place in the 200m.
Harvey Roderick followed in his footsteps and placed in the Finals of the 100m and 200m for the year 7 boys category, where he achieved 7 th place overall.
McKenzie Clayton also showed his running prowess in the 1500m, coming in in a very respectable 5 th place, whilst Aiden Wilcox showed his Javelin abilities, placing in 5 th also.
The girls also did us proud, with Paige McNeish Achieving 4 th place in the 75m Hurdles event, and event which she has never done before or even had any training in, so a huge congratulations for her. Slight disappointment for Faith Owen, who achieved a very good standing in her Shout putt event, she was told she placed high, maybe even medal contention but as her throws and distances were not recorded she was unable to be awarded a medal. She came away very happy in spite of this.
Overall we had a very enjoyable and competitive day, and once again demonstrating our sporting abilities against bigger schools in the local authorities and doing Maesydderwen proud.
