Technoclub pupils' trip to Ysgol Y Cribarth this afternoon in order to introduce Year 5 and 6 to computer programming through creating a game in Scratch software.

Staff, pupils, Governors and visitors from Canolfan, Ystradgynlais came together today at Ysgol Maesydderwen to take part in our Macmillan Coffee Morning event. 

Many children from Year 7 to Year 13 stayed behind on Thursday night to help with the baking and decorating some of the cupcakes.

Year 11 Parents' Evening is being held on Wednesday October 8th 2014.

It is an  opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with their subject teachers.

As this is a crucial year in their education we hope that you can attend.

Brecknock Shire meeting will be held at Ysgol Maesydderwen on Wednesday 24th September.

Public are welcome to attend from 9:30am.

The meeting deals with local matters and will be attended by twenty four Councillors and Officers of the county.

The whole of Year 9 took part in a STEM project on Wednesday 17th September.

Heidi Purnell came in to work with the Year group and to set them the challenge. Pupils were split into teams of 7 and were tasked with moving as many tomatoes across a 2m distance as possible without dropping or squashing any.

Pupils had to use skills from Science, Technology and Maths to come up with the most effective design. The winning team managed to move all of the tomatoes within the 2 minute time limit. They were the "Squashed Teamatoes" with Corey Harkness, Ethan Peacey, Connor Bruton, Rebecca Davies, Emily Thomas, Zoe England and Elin Jones.

The project was based on a real life problem in Nepal where farmers have to move their tomatoes from the side of a mountain to the market place at the bottom. All of the pupils in Year 9 took on the challenge with an excellent enthusiasm and worked as teams to produce some very exciting designs.
