We also visited the Mary Rose Museum in Portsmouth and saw the magnificent HMS Victory. The Mary Rose is a Tudor ship, built in 1510 under the orders of Henry VIII. It was in service for 34 years but sank in 1545. The ship was re discovered in 1971 and raised in 1982. It has been conserved and many of the artefacts found on board are on display, giving an insight into Tudor life.
We also visited Fort Nelson which is a Victorian fort and home to the Royal Armouries national collection of artillery and Big Guns.
The visit finished with a visit to Lego Land where pupils, in addition to enjoying the attractions, had an opportunity to experience various space themed challenges using the Lego version of Mindstorms EV3 Technology which involves Computing and Maths.
All in all a fantastic visit! It gave pupils invaluable learning experiences outside the class room. The pupils were commended for their excellent behaviour and attitude to leaning. Well done all of you and we look forward to planning our next visit for 2016!
