Ysgol Maesydderwen had great success at the South Powys Sports Awards on Saturday 5th March 2016.
The Awards were hosted at Theatre Brycheiniog. Ysgol Maesydderwen over the years have had great success at these awards and tradition continued. Hannah Barron, currently a Year 10 pupil and Silver Ambassador for the school came Runner Up in the Young Sports Leader of the year category and Jan Millar former PE teacher and now current cover supervisor at the school, was awarded 1st prize for Contribution to PE and School Sport. There was also success for Ystradgynlais RFC and they came First in the Senior Team of the year category and Ystradgynlais RFC Youth Team came Runner Up in the Young Team of the Year category. Congratulations to all who were nominated for the awards! Crafty Kids would like to wish all Mum's a very Happy Mothers' Day for Sunday.
We hope you all enjoy!! It is official, Ysgol Maesydderwen have signed up for a sports relief games this year.
Our sports relief day will be on Friday 18th March involving years 7, 8 and 9, as well as the sixth form. Years 7, 8 and 9 will be taking part in a skip-a-thon and year 12 and 13 alongside Miss Thomas will be taking part in an all day Spin-a-thon. Staff are also involved, talking part in various physical activities such as netball matches and workout classes. We are aiming to raise as much money as possible through sponsorship money and paying to take part. LETS GET PHYSICAL !! On Tuesday 1st March Computer Science Students in Years 11, 10 & 9 took part in a Greenfoot programming workshop held by Stewart Powell of Techncamps Swansea.
Pupils learnt to make a game with characters that can move around and collect objects. We look forward to developing the games further during lessons. Cynhaliwyd Eisteddfod i Flynyddoedd 7, 8 a 9 i ddathlu Dydd Gŵyl Dewi ar Ddydd Gwener, Chwefror 26 gyda chystadlu brwd rhwng y tri llys, Giedd, Tawe a Twrch .

On February 26, we celebrated St David’s day with an Inter-house Eisteddfod for Years 7 – 9. There was a wide range of competitions and plenty of friendly rivalry between the three houses, Giedd, Tawe and Twrch. Thanks to everyone who contributed to making it a success and a very enjoyable occasion, full of the Welsh “hwyl”. Congratulations to this year’s winning House, Twrch, and to every individual competitor for taking part. |
