January 2012: GCSE Maths Success; Mock Exams Indicate Record GCSE Results

Year 11 students at Ysgol Maesydderwen were celebrating early after receiving their GCSE Maths results. Students had been entered for the examination last November and already over half the year group have achieved A* to C grades. There will be another opportunity to sit the Maths examination in the Summer to ensure that even more students achieve the top grades. Those students who have passed can now begin to study Additional Maths in preparation for A Level. Students and staff are proud of Year 11's achievement and are working together to ensure that this success is replicated in the summer exams.

A special assembly was also held to reveal the results of the Year 11 mock GSCE examinations that were held just before Christmas.  Students sitting their full exams this summer are on course to achieve the school's best GCSE results ever, with the number of A* and A grades predicted to rise significantly based on the results of the mock exams.
